The Marketing Company:

Tedmark not only markets UVASYS sheets to world markets other than South Africa, it also handles all logistics, administration and documentation. More importantly, however, is the fact that any client anywhere in the world can rely on technical backup and assistance at all times. We mean technical assistance on the level of knowledge that is not gleaned from other author’s publications, books or brochures. Our level of knowledge stems from the very roots of the conception, invention and design of the plastic laminated sulphur dioxide generating sheets (Grape Guards to some). The Manufacturing Company:

Grapetek (Pty) Ltd, together with other entities within the Grapetek group of companies, have been in the fruit packaging manufacturing for generations.

Grapetek manufactured the first sulphur dioxide generating sheets (Grape Guards) around thirty years ago, and still manufactures the old technology sheets utilizing the plastic/paper/granular sodium metabisulphite system as well as the new UVASYS sulphur dioxide generating plastic laminated sheets.

The old system is the same one which is used in various forms by other manufacturers. Sometimes the real nature of these old technology sheets is ingeniously disguised through polyethylene coating of the paper, and then such sheets are being sold as “plastic laminated sheets”.

Albeit in a relatively small ratio to the plastic laminated UVASYS sheets, these old Grape Guards are still marketed by Grapetek (Pty) ltd. under the brand name Uvaspec. It is suitable for those users and packers of table grapes for whom low cost is the most compelling consideration. It is also used when grapes will be stored for shorter periods or transported over shorter distances.
